Lori has an eclectic background in art. She watched her father, Ted Baugh, paint most Sunday afternoons throughout her childhood and she fondly recalls marveling at his skill, talent and sheer joy of painting. Many of his paintings grace her walls as well as many other family members and friends.
In 1980, Lori partnered with her father to establish an art consulting company and gallery called Picture This. For six years Lori represented a group of international printmakers and sold their work through a retail gallery and corporate presentations.
While completing her Masters degree in Health Promotion (Boise, Idaho) Lori became an instant friend with her neighbor Margaret Williams. Margaret was 40 years her senior and enjoyed painting in oils, with folk designs on wood, and with acrylics on plaster Christmas figures and ornaments. She was first person to put a paint brush in Lori’s hand and until her death in 2007 provided Lori with constant encouragement and love. It wasn’t however until Lori’s friend Susan Gottselig (a senior healthcare manager turned glass blower) urged her to explore her creative side and head to a retreat with Canmore watercolor artist Donna Jo Massie. Lori has never stopped painting since. Her watercolors are primarily based upon her love of mountains and her collection of over 25 years of taking photographs.
